View Royal FireFighter Warren Stratton Joins 2019 Tour de Rock Team
The Tour de Rock is a two week, 1000+ kilometer bike ride undertaken by a team of 21 first responders (fire, police, ambulance) and thousands of volunteers from around the island, as well as a guest rider who’s youngest daughter is a cancer survivor. The ride is to raise awareness and money for pediatric cancer research and support
Warren is a Red Seal Certified Heavy Mechanic with over 18 years of experience working on machines. He grew up in Campbell River where he worked in both open-pit and underground mines. He now lives in Victoria where he works for Seaspan at the Victoria Shipyards, as both a Heavy Mechanic and Safety Officer. He is also a Volunteer Firefighter with the View Royal Fire Department, and it is this role that has allowed him to join the Tour de Rock as a Cycling Team Member this year.

Warren is passionate about being involved with and assisting his community wherever and whenever possible. He is also very active and enjoys cycling, hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, rock climbing and camping.
Like most people, cancer has touched his life personally. Warren first became involved with the Tour de Rock as a volunteer after his Grandmother passed away from cancer many years ago. This experience as well as his personal connections with many previous Tour de Rock team members has inspired him to ride and raise money for cancer research.
Through his involvement with the Tour de Rock, Warren has had the opportunity to get to know many of the Junior riders and their families personally, and he can see the huge positive impact programs like Camp Good Times have had on their lives. The program provides an opportunity for children effected by cancer to just be kids, as well as meet other children who understand their experiences.
